If you're getting 640 a x 480 displayed albeit with large black borders, then it's NOT a sense wire issue.

I had a similar problem using the electronics, yoke and 'CRT-end PCB' to drive a 640 x 480 display on the CRT on an SE/30. Even tweaking the 'width' control to max left bigger borders than I'd like. Are you using the 575's yoke and 'CRT-end PCB', or the CC's?

I'm not a CRT expert, but I guess that the CRTs are optimised for a particular machine and analogue board. I wonder if adjusting the voltage (as is done for the VGA mod), if possible, might solve the problem?
