Dad would tell me how many smacks I was going to get, the minimum was usually 6 when my pants came down. If it was a less formal punishment he would grab hold of me and whack me over my pants several times, that was usually enough to make me cry. He would then say”Any more misbehaviour and your pants are coming down!” That meant usually going over his knee.
