Subject: Paddling son in front of friend

 I’m a stepdad to an 18 year old stepson who I regularly have to paddle for his behavior. I always do it privately in our basement with the door closed . Tonight while having a friend stay over I made him remove his jeans and underwear in his bedroom and bend over his bed then gave him six searing swats right in front of his friend. I feel like I should have at least taken him to the basement. How do others parents feel about administering corporal punishment in front of a friend?
