Subject: 'Joe the King' brings back memories

 I have posted about this many times before but when responding to Liam's question about the film 'Joe the King' made me vividly remember when I five years old and my entrants teacher smacked me and two other boys for not listening.

Thankfully unlike Joe it wasn't on my bare butt.

The class had been called over to the mat. The other two boys and I were playing with with some toys and ignored our teacher. She walked over and grabbed my arm pulling me to my feet. With her her other hand delivered three hard quick smacks over my shorts to a single spot on my right butt cheek. My memory is that it was three smacks but it could have less.

She released my hand and I quickly run over and took my place on the mat. I heard the son of two friend's bottoms being smacked behind me - I heard several smacks in quick succession, which reinforces my memory that it was three smacks.

I didn't cry. I remember being shock more than anything and being embarrassed that I had got in trouble. Oh my butt was stinging as I sat on the hard carpet floor.

Interestingly this was 2008. Corporal punishment had been banned since 1990 and the anti smacking legislation had also been passed regarding parental smacking. I don't know if at 5 years old if I knew that my teacher wasn't allowed to smack me - but probably not. At that age at home I was getting smacked with the wooden spoon so not surprising I wasn't going to tell my Mum that my teacher smacked me. I know one of the other boys also got spankings at home - didn't find this out to much later from my Mum who told my friend also got spanked by his Mum.

Also in second year of high school our social studies teacher once gave a boy a smack around the back of the had - guess we all would have been 14-15. Those of us who saw just laughed. Nothing come of that.

Anyway gotta go...1 minute until I clock on at work.
