I used to purposely seem as pathetic as possible when my dad was spanking me because I wanted him to feel guilty about it in the hopes that he would go easier on me. I WANTED him to feel bad. That was a pretty shameful manipulation tactic on my part.

I've changed since then though. I realize now that my dad is doing what is best for me, and I shouldn't want him to feel bad about doing his duty as my father. So now I make sure to thank him after every spanking so he knows that I don't resent him at all and that I am grateful to him for helping me by providing me with discipline.

On very rare occasions, he has actually spanked me for things I really didn't do. And despite me telling him that I didn't do it, he didn't believe me and spanked me anyway. Emotionally, this is much harder for me to reconcile. But I know he didn't wrongfully spank me intentionally. He is working with the limited information that he has, and sometimes he is wrong. I have decided to forgive him for these rare mistakes. I also don't want him to ever find out that he spanked me in error. It's best for his peace of mind if he believes it was justified.
