I usually wasn't over her knee except when I was pretty little. It would have been bent over the armrest of her sofa if punished in her living room or (more commonly) on my tummy on her bed in her room with a pillow propping up my big booty.

The lecture went on for a long time after. Like she would tell me I could get up and pull my panties up and put on my pants or pull my skirt back down. And you'd think it was over. Then it was like a loop where the lecture just seemed to start all over again. And you knew you had to sit there and listen even if you wanted to run out of there and cry in private. Half the time she was shaking the hairbrush that just lit my butt up as I heard once again how disappointed she was and how worried she was that I would not be able to find a husband to make a good household with if I kept acting this way (yes, she worried in the 80s that I would not be able to grow up to be June Cleaver with my attitude).

Spankings from her were painful because she had this technique that she had perfected on her own four children and my older cousins long before I came along. Swats came in groups of four, and she always seemed to hit both cheeks and both thighs in a fast succession. And it would be four swats, "i'm so disappointed." Four swats, "Ladies do not talk that way!" But seriously, you heard all this stuff before the spanking starts. Then you heard it during the spanking between groups of swats. Then you heard it from the beginning after she was done. And eventually she opened her arms for a hug and you knew finally she was going to go back to doing something else.

And some spankings had many more than a dozen swats.
