First of all, Sonya, I loved your story about Mr. Allen. Thanks for sharing.

Now like both you and Jack, I had some teachers I dearly loved. Some were like family to me. Others as Sonya said, "Not so much"

Like you mentioned Sonya, I had a couple of teachers who would bully or belittle students. Including a couple that loved to pick on me about my Kentucky accent. It was because of them I became became very hesitant to speak in public. I also learned how to speak with no accent at all. Which over time created a problem of me picking up people's accents unintentionally. But opposite of that, like I said, I had several teachers who I was very fond of. In fact, I am friends with one of my seventh grade teachers to this day. No she never paddled me and I think only once even threatened to. But it thrilled me to no end when I saw her in our local Mall recently. She was with one of her grandkids and Introduced me as one of her favorite students. I was deeply touched when she said that. In addition to her and the one I had a crush on, Mrs. G. There was also my first grade teacher, Mrs. D. Who was also the principal's wife. She was dearly loved by all her students even though she would spank you right in front of the class for misbehaving with her little red paddle. She was one of those teachers who was like a second mother. Always warm and sweet. Bringing treats in for us every week and always had a hug for "her kids" even if she had to spank you. When she had to punish you, she was never mean about it. In fact she seemed sad to have to do it and always gave you a hug after.

Sonya and Jack, Thanks for sharing your stories with us.
