I think it was really in the mid 2000s when millennials started becoming parents. From what I recall spanking was pretty acceptable (where I am from at least) up at least the end of the 90s and maybe the first few years of the 2000s.

Now lots of people (at least on some social media like Reddit and such) seem to view spanking as something horrible and a "failure of parenting" thinking everything can be talked out with the kids.

Frankly, I think the pendulum has swung too far the other way. While some of our parents were way too harsh (including some of the stories here), I clearly see you cannot just talk to your kids at time. heck, you cannot even reason with many adults and kids lack the capability to understand many things even more.

I see lots of kids simply begin terrible and lacking any sort of proper discipline and behavior.

So while I do oppose the type of harsh measures we might have been subjected to were a bit too hard, I think sometimes a spanking or even just a few swats, might be necessary.
