It would be a cop-out to say "the one I was getting at the time," but that's honestly my memory.

If I had to go by the most vivid memories though, I would say any of the pre-teen spankings I got between age nine through twelve were the worst. My dad started using a small wood paddle when I was about seven. Usually the paddle was plenty painful even over bluejeans, and for the first couple years, I got maybe less than half (maybe two or three total) of my paddlings on the bare butt.

However, when I turned nine, I clearly remember becoming a bit of a hellion around my mom, but when my dad wasn't around. My mom was very squeamish about giving spankings, but still a big believer in the "wait until your father gets home" brand of parenting. One day when I was in the fourth grade, so nine, my mom declared in front of my dad that "from now on all of his spankings need to be on the bare butt, and with the paddle."

While it doesn't seem fair to my dad, he clearly didn't disagree, and from that day on, my final 15 or so spankings were old fashioned (bare butt, over the knee) paddlings. I also think during those years my dad added a few more whacks to the spankings, which were famous for ending with a fast flurry of hard ones. While I was too out of my mind from the sting to count, I think a spanking during those years usually ended with fifteen to twenty fast ones (after maybe six or so slow ones to start). Those spankings were over pretty quickly, but the sting was so unbelievable I recall it today, over 41 years since my last spanking.
