I feel it's the pendulum swinging back. Frankly in the past, and a lot of story here, show that parents were just overtly violent with their kids.

I do not think spanking is inherently wrong, but it was definitely overused and people who got subject to it and made into politics decided no one deserved what they went through as kids.

While I appreciate the sentiment it seems a lot of kids (o young adults as product of that as well) lack any discipline or even morals.

They say "just talk to your kids" , but with some kids (or people) it does not work. They need real (painful) consequences to learn.
