Usually, if something would earn me a spanking (note that not all infractions deserved one!), then I lied as much as I could, if I knew it was unlikely they knew the truth.

Now, if I was caught in a lie, I would get a worse spanking, naturally, but lying often literally saved my ass.

I knew pretty well when lying would not work, too. If i got in trouble at a friend's house or school, I knew my parents would get to know about it. This also often saved my ass (literally, once again!) several times, as I lying would have definitively gotten my bottom blistered by the hairbrush, but being honest might just result in some other punishment, like no TV or something like that.
