Honestly Sweetheart, I don't know. Most of the spankings just took place in the living room. There were times I got spankings in the kitchen, the bathroom, my bedroom, the basement which was our utility and laundry room. I guess doing most of the spanking in the living room added a formality to the spanking, and some feelings of dread. The fact that it could be witnessed by anyone who happened to be there at the time, certainly added to the embarrassment. The spankings in the living room also included having to stand in front of Momma or sometimes Daddy and receive a scolding for what you did. That added to the punishment. Then being told those dreaded words "Pull down your pants/panties and get over my knee" would generally bring on the waterworks. So I guess spankings done if the living room were a little more ritualized than ones given in other parts of the house and much more public if you will. But there was never an actual reason given for it, and truthfully I never asked.
