I just don't think it was something we thought of. We were a very conservative Catholic family, and my shorts and swimsuits always seemed to cover more than anyone else's did. We were not a family where people walked around in their underwear or anything like that.

But I also don't think I ever associated nudity with sex in a 1970s and 80s world where I'd never heard of any of the bad things that fill the news today.

I didn't really think of dropping my pants in front of my dad to get spanked as any different than going into a changing room with my mom while shopping for clothes or taking off my shirt at the doctor's office.
