I don't think so. Both my parents were responsible, kind and loving. My mom usually spanked me, and she didn't seem like she enjoyed it. She would tell me afterwards that she didn't like doing it, but that she did it because she cared about me. I don't think my dad enjoyed it either, as he probably did it because he thought it was needed. He was always calm when spanking me, and when he belted my sister. The only thing i don't understand is why he never belted me, or kept spanking me in my later teenage years, but did it to my sis. I guess it's because they were closer, like me and mom were, and that she was his main responsibility in a way, like i was moms. I never asked, so i don't really know.
