I do recall an instance of my mother spanking my sister that way. We had been out doing errands and Mom had promised my misbehaving sister "a spanking when we get home." She was six or seven.

Mom wasn't angry any longer, but she was still going to make good on her promise to my sister. In our family, when Mommy promised you a spanking, you got one - no exceptions.

I watched from the far end of our long living room so I couldn't hear her words. But first she sat on our sofa and stood my sister in front of her with mom's hands on the sides of my sister's shoulders, and admonished her in a gentle but firm tone.

Then she steered my sister face down across her lap and spoke a few words.

After that, she tucked my sister's dress and petticoat up above her waist, then spoke a few sentences. My sister's face was turned back over her right shoulder to attend to our Mother's words, her little face etched with dread.

Mom unhurriedly slipped down my sister's panties. I was full of miserable suspense watching this, scarcely able to breathe. I thought my sister's spanking would begin now. But instead, mom lectured her awhile longer as she lay there across our mother's lap positioned and bared for her spanking.

Finally mom raised her palm and began calmly and methodically slapping my sister's poor, bare little bottom.

Mother never spanked me that way. I was always so emotionally upset and begging for a second chance and promising to be good that I wouldn't have heard a word she said. So with me she'd put me over her knee, pull down my panties and begin spanking me forthwith.
