Half of the punishment was the wait. Mom had you go to get bedroom, get the belt out put it on her dresser, take your pants off and fold them neatly and wait.

The wait lasted between 1 and two years. OK, probably more like 15 to 30 minutes but it seemed forever.

Sometimes there was a discussion before it started but you knew how the discussion was going to end except one time I explained my way out of it.

There was something about the feeling of my pants sliding down my legs that really took the starch out of me. Or, on some occasions, the feeling of my underpants sliding down my legs and waiting with bottom bare.
