Mom had a kind of pattern she followed. You were sent to her room to get the belt off of a hook in her closet. You were to coil it and place it on the dresser. Then you had to take your pants off, fold then neatly,and wait for her. If you were in super big time trouble, she told you to that underpants had to be off too. That was a very bad sign.

The wait lasted between one and two years. OK, it only seemed like that. Sometimes she would call a friend to talk and discuss what I had done but she was always calm when she entered the room. (She told me much later about the phone calls) Somehow, it was scarier because she was so calm.

Probably the longest wait in her room was an hour. I imagine that it took her an hour to calm down but I am not sure.

There was one incident where the spankings were delayed much longer.
