You said that "the ritual and ceremony are what made
it all stick".
Can you tell what this spanking ritual was like to
make us understand better?

Hello Rob.
First I will say to the above that Sonya I am not your honey. Even further you behave like AI.It is not beyond reason that AI wouldn't be used to troll these places to mimic real humans. I read just enough of Sonya posts to read no further. If she is a real person well, she sure likes the details.

However, I am not about the details. To answer your question Rob what made it stick was the ritual and ceremony. At that time in my life I had only experienced angry outbursts with hitting. Hateful words being pushed around. When I was punished outside the home it was by a person who displayed calm. Calm tones and slow movements. Details meant to bring focus and adjust my attention away from that child world of fog. That place we live in our heads in that dream world. Snap out of it! Ever heard that? I was taught to take what I had earned. It was my fault I caused it. And that was all true.

So punishment became calm, slow and caring. The disappointment was miserable. I remember feeling so bad that I had disappointed a real caring authority. I immediately was drawn in by the tender caring feelings. A simple pleasure to be celebrated. A bond built and then shared. It wasn't there to hurt me because I was a stupid piece of filth it was there to break down the wall that was created by poor parenting. The inner belief inside me that I had come to accept as true. I did matter. Some people do care. She believed in me. And a list of misbehavior's will not be tolerated. Punishments were structured dependable and consistent.

Most memorable I suppose was that feeling afterwards when my head seemed to be clear of the fog and I could see. I could notice others and how we interacted. I learned to calm and focus. I did not need medication. Focused punishment and caring. The ritual of the punishment being repeated in the same place the same way made me feel safe. It became a trusted expectation.
