Hi Rob,

Growing up in Mississippi in the Fifties and Sixties - though things would have been the same I'm sure in the rest of America as well - I think a lot of spankings would have been sexualised. Especially with respect to bare bottom spankings. Growing up, in my experience, nearly all spankings were bare bottom ones. The prevailing opinion was "that a proper spankin' had to be on the bare!" Now in this context its not that surprising that many spankings were sexualised. The proximity of the buttocks to the genitalia made this a, if not likely outcome, then a not unlikely one, either. Also it was something that could equally affect both the adult spanker and the youngster being spanked as well. My stepmom Carrie was certainly sexually aroused by the spankings and I, as I got older and hit puberty, would, once the burn, sting and throb had died down, retire to my bedroom and masturbate!

In the case of my stepmother her spankings were intense, painful - boy did they hurt - and also sexualised. They were intended as punishments but Carrie clearly derived enjoyment from them as well. So yes, while our spankings from our stepmom were always for actual 'offences', there was also a definite sexual dimension to them.
