My mom was the most pro spanking parent you could imagine but school was weird for her. She carried a lot of trauma from her childhood regarding school that affected her as a parent.

Most of the times when I had detention, the school had already called to request permission to paddle me. She always denied it because she was determined that no one from school would hit us. I usually had to pick detention. Whether that also meant a spanking at home probably mostly depended on how inconvenienced she was. If I was able to do my time and walk home, she probably would leave it at that. If the adult in charge of detention said she had to come get me personally, I was probably going to get it at home.
