When I got detention at school, and I got my share and then some, I was given a detention slip that had to be signed by a parent. This made me nervous because I knew that I was going to be punished for it.

When I got home, I would tell my mother I got detention. She would sign the slip and tell me my consequence. Typically, I had a choice, being grounded on a Saturday or a hand spanking. Typically, I would take the hand spanking.

I am thinking a lot of other people here had similar experiences.
