As the youngest of 3, I got few spankings, and very few of those were bare. I think I got spanked bare sometimes up through 1st grade, but the latest actual instance I can remember was in preschool. My oldest brother must have been getting bare spankings up through 3rd or 4th grade. If it was to be on the bare, the order would come from Dad, "bend over and pull your pants down." This would typically occur in the living room. "Bend over" meant the unlucky one would have to bend over the seat of a kitchen or living room chair, and "pants down" meant to pull the pants and underwear down to the ankles. Then the spanking would commence. I'm not sure how I knew "pants down" meant both pants and underwear, but in my memory it never occurred to me until kindergarten that any spanking would be over one's underwear. It would always be pants or skin. In kindergarten, my teacher informed us that of a kid were to get sent to the principals office, they could get spanked, and this being the 80's I started wondering how that would work with the ever-popular poofy skirts. I think I spend the better part of 10 years wondering if girls got bare-bottom spankings too, or if that was just for boys
