I know that my parents both got spanked growing up. My dad grew up in Mexico, and I'm pretty sure he got the belt from his dad as a kid the same way he delivered it to my brother and me.

My mom was born in Mexico but wasn't very big when my grandparents moved to southern Texas. I know she grew up getting her mom's brush. I also knew my maternal grandmother's brush very well as she lived next door to us and she took on a big part of raising me.

My brother and I both got spanked virtually every time we were punished. My sister is 10 years younger than I am. My parents had definitely mellowed by the time she came a long and had more variety in the discipline tool box for her. She got some spankings for sure, but it was more of a worst of the worst offenses deal. She didn't get as many, but if she got one it was usually pretty heavy.
