I was surprised to see this question asked of those who grew up before the 80s. I vividly recall having the chickenpox. I did a quick poll of people my age and everyone remembers the chickenpox. A quick Google search reveals that a vaccine was not commercially available in the United States until 1995!

I don’t remember being spanked for scratching, but I got fussed at! I remember having to take baths in some sort of chalky substance.

I don’t think my parents ever spanked me when I was actively sick. I don’t think they ever would have.
