I am new to this forum and have reviewed many of the posts here before venturing in. From what I can gather, I am a good deal older than most of the others contributing recollections. I was born in 1952 and have, as a result, chosen to use the name Jack Boomer symbolically.

My parents believed in the efficacy of spanking as discipline as did most parents when I was a child. However, their approach did not include “corner time.” This is not to say that the practice was a fantasy. On the contrary, I had several acquaintances and friends whose parents sent them to a corner where they were to consider their misdeeds after a spanking.

I, myself, did encounter corner time in school, particularly in the early grades, both as a stand alone punishment and as a time to consider one’s wrongdoing after a paddling administered by one of my teachers.
