With mom you were always at the mercy of whims. An instance of misbehavior one day might just get you a scolding and then the next day a spanking. Sometimes she gave an on the spot spanking, sometimes it was a longer spanking in the diaper position, and sometimes it was a longer spanking over the knee. She was hard to read. Mom would also sometimes make spankings more formal by telling me to bare my own butt, but I was never able to bring myself to actually do that. Sometimes her spankings didn’t hurt at all, and sometimes it felt like my butt was on fire.

Dad was much easier to read and I knew exactly when I had crossed the point of no return, so to speak. His spankings were much harder than mom’s, and more ad hoc. Sometimes he pulled my pants down, sometimes not. I think he pulled them down for more serious cases of bad behavior, whereas with mom it was just up to her mood at the time. Dad never put me over his knee, I was always in the diaper position, just standing up, or laying on the bed. Another main difference between them was dad spanked with his belt, mom never used anything but her hand.
