It was thought that the more they got their bodies exposed to the sun that the healthier they would be. How things have changed since then, and how now too much sun is not a good thing. . I wore briefs to beach and took them off once blanket was laid out. On way home I was often naked. Where I grew up were a lot of girls on street as playmates.
