I think your plan for 2026 is wise in emphasizing ritual/tone rather than the sheer amount of pain.
The reason is that in the context of a DD relationship, more pain, even within the limits of tolerance, can actually reduce the emotional connection and the spankee's satisfaction.
If she is too focused on the pain she may be holding herself in from really absorbing the lesson. That is why it is often the case, especially with male spankees who are trying to seem tough, that the way to produce tears is not necessarily to hit harder but to make sure the spankee is focused on the "why" of what is happening, and why it is deserved.
I think the thread about interaction with the punisher shows this clearly.
