 Maintenance spankings, as normally used, are not dependent on the child's behavior during the week. Punishment spankings are given IN ADDITION to the maintenance spankings as soon after the misbehavior as possible. The maintenance spankings are given to remind the child to keep on the right path or the result will be a longer and more painful punishment spanking.
