It can work if you are both committed to each other - like every relationship things arent always easy and not everyone you know will like the partner that you have chosen. There is a similar age gap between my b/f and myself but i am 29 and he is 20 - it depends entirely on the people involved, for instance you may be a very mature 19 year old and your friend may be a very young at heart 34 year old - you will both find ways to handle the different situations that arise - just as every couple in a same age relationship does.
Ultimately the choice is between yourself and your friend - dont discourage the relationship if it is something you both want purely for the fact that other people wont like the idea of the age gap - my b/f favourite saying to people who have been opposed to our relationship is "that age is only a state of mind" - Good Luck !!!
