my dear lord byron, as for my defection to the catholic state, i must state that i found the trappings of the purple and insence to be appealing at a very early age and considered converting many times. i am not so sure of sir richard. i think his wife talked him into it on his deathbed(and then burned all his diaries the nasty hag!!)

i also like item #2. however, i am not sure you need a god for it. why cannot karmic burden accrue on its own as a state independent of a god? i am very unsure of this. tomorrow i will go back to the hindu site and investigate this further.

going back to item #1 for a moment. the greeks (orphism) believed in an immortal soul, right...with cyclic implications of reincarnation? i wonder if they posited a god. all this has been thought out before. i say why re-invent the wheel. others have done the thinking, let us pick the most sensible from our viewpoint and defend it or annihilate it. i am willing to consider that a "soul" might have existed at the start of the universe (at least i think i can think of a way to argue it)...what i dont accept is senseless cycling. doesnt make sense. but parts of item #1 might work for other systems.

but you are right...fate or chance...but i say does it matter for our purposes...hmmm i have to think! *thinking*

ok, you are right. we better work on god first. state your stance. let it be religious, i wont argue it, but i may restate it.

in the mean time i will check out buddhism because i dont think you need a god for reincaration. but i am not going to do this until tomorrow because i am tired and my poor noggin is mushy from trying to cogitate!

enjoying this!
