i believe you have the answer...it is intertwined. there are chemical reactions that happen when people see photos of the people they love (they have seen it on PET scans) so something chemical is going on. and it makes sense in a way to think of it as a reproductive evolutionary mechanism. but you don't need love to reproduce, so there must be something else going on. the need to stay and protect the family unit by all members of the family unit to ensure the survival of the offspring is instinct in most animals, why then love in humans? we have few actual instincts. something else is going on.

however i dont know what it is. so i go with yolandas connection between mind, body and soul. the answer lies somewhere in there.
