Just think, if TV shows weren't marketable, there would be no TV shows.
From an ecomonic standpoint, buying is supporting Jhonen, and consuming <i>from</i> Nickolodeon. However, it is then also supporting Nick, and whoever makes the toys/shirts/merchandise.

Personally, I've never been inclined to buy excessive stickers, shirts, etc. in support of anything, the exception being an independent organization here and there (indie booksellers, ACLU, The Humane Society, etc.). Since Nick is a far cry from an independent organization in genuine need of donations and volunteer work...and Jhonen is always going to be successful, just by the large amount of fans he has thus far accrued...I think the real support for Jhonen may lay in the future if/when Nick puts more restrictions on his show. The monetary support shows Nick that people are interested, so perhaps in the future our opinions may be taken as seriously as the opinions of 'concerned' parent-callers.
Or maybe not?
