Yeah, we're Vasquez fans. We love the art, we love the fucked up and sick humor, and we watch Zim because we've been left hungry for entertainment. I know sometimes I watch an episode of Zim and think to myself, "Man, this is kinda sucking and the humor is weak". Not frequently, but there are some pretty frequent unmomentous moments in some episodes where you can tell the Network had squelched some idea which was supposed to blossom into something horrible and hilarious. Nevertheless, I love the show, perhaps for no other reason than I'm a Vasquez junkie of some sort and I'll suck the few drops of soul-nourishment I can get from his humor. I have identified with nothing more this past year than the statement by GIR that "I NEED TACOS! I need them or I will EXPLODE!"

However, with this new Zim merchandise being pushed at Hot Topic and possibly toy stores soon, I find myself wondering where I'll draw the line with my fandom. Yeah, I bought the Spooky toy, I bought the Fillerbunny toy, and I have some JTHM t-shirts and of course the comics. But do I really need every Zim shirt that comes out? How about the other merchandise? I'll probably buy stickers. I'll probably buy action figures. But Jesus Christ, where is it going to go from there? Am I collecting, hoarding, coveting, sequestering, what? How much more junk do I need filling up my house? And do I really need another goddamned T-shirt? Still, I want to buy. If a stuffed GIR comes out, I'm all over it, sickening as that sounds, but am I supporting or consuming? I don't know anymore.
