Not really, but I AM one of both.

As I sit here typing this, while WEARING my Zim shirt, I too wonder when I will stop consuming so much, essentially, worthless merchandise. I looked around my room the other day and realized that frankly, I have too much shit.

I also know that although I've been much better at resisting temptation, I probably won't stop. I'm not as bad as my Mother, and that gives me comfort.

I'll most likely buy more Zim stuff as it comes out and I look at buying the shirt as supporting the show and pushing them to make more merchandise (read: a stuffed GIR). But, I'm not going to buy every piece of shoddy merchandise that Hot Topic slaps an Invader Zim logo on. I was actually in the store the other day and only bought one button, because frankly, the other ones sucked and I could have made them at home.

I think as long as you are selective and don't go and buy everything that is shoved down our throats, you can safely ride that fan/consumer whore line quite nicely. It's a good thing as fans to support/feed our obsessions sometimes, but it's also good as consumers, to realize when to say, "No, that piece of shoddy crap was made without quality in mind, but rather the sole purpose of making money." But then again, maybe I'm just rationalizing. Heheh. ;)
