The cerulean blue kept quiet for some time, jaws shut and wings half open as he zipped carefully through the underbrush, always not far behind the brilliant green. Alkyri dodged yet another sapling, wings rustling the branches slightly in passing. His eyes whirled, glowing ever so slightly in the dark that threatened still on the horizon. They were in that still moment where light and dark meet and hold a standoff for a time that seems ageless. Night hung almost oppressively, but seemed to never advance upon the three suitors trailing their only desire. Alkyri had eyes for nothing but Romana, hues locked on her tail, awaiting her next crafty move. And it came far too quickly. The little blue caught the sudden flare of wings to late to follow his beloved skywards through the branches. He flared his right wing, pulling upwards and around the tree in a long, widening spiral that brought him above the canopy. Alkyri brought forth from his lungs the high, trumpeting bugle that he had caged in and pent up for so long, answering her scream with nothing but longing and love. Desire ached deep in his chest as he located her shining form in the tree, but he let one last thermal of the day carry him upwards in a large spiral, high above the trees and awaiting what he wanted and knew would be his.

Romana burst forth from the canopy and Alkyri instantly brought his wings tight around his lither body, angling downwards and droping like a stone through the chill air. She was flitting above the treetops, her grass green, glowing hue easy to see in the coming twilight. Alkyri was attaining speed he could only dream of now, silently falling down to meet his love, gaining on her by the second. His entire form thrummed with the excitement, and the four all knew that something was bound to happen soon. And still the blue dropped closer, only feet from the green now..inches. He flared his wings in the blink of an eye, leveling off and closing them again, going into a series of acrobatic loops and rolls to lose the speed he gained in the dive. He was dancing for her, showng off his speed and acrobatic prowess as he sang, trumpeting a series of calls and trills for her, like a Harper trapped inside the petie frame of a firelizard. One backwards loop brought him back onto her tail, neck and neck with Velvet, though Alkyri did not even notice. He pulled alongside Romana, crooning softly as he kept her pace, never daring to touch such beauty. Alkyri sang for her, ignoring the screaming pain of his wing muscles and beginning to beat his wings a little more to keep pace with her. He would woo the little green. Exhaustion could wait.
