A special thank you to all the fans and all of you who support the Miss T&T Process. We are of course all dissappointed that La Toya failed to make the top 15 and we were extremely surprised since all indications were that she was going to do extremely well.

What is important to note is that this young woman worked extremely hard in preparing for the pageant and literally put her entire life on hold to focus on the task of representing her country. The debate on the controversial photo shoot will never find a resolution but it does not negate the fact that La Toya was an excellent representative.

The team gave their very best to her, and now must focus on reviewing what may have gone wrong. The fact that so many people expressed surprise at her exclusion in spite of the many explanations offered speaks volumes of the impact this young woman made at the pageant.

I urge all of you to continue to support the Miss T&T process, its easy to be there for the victories and the success but the true fan supports even in disspointments. Some how the team must find the motivation to give it another shot next year. I still maintain that this is one of the best teams around, but we are not going to place every year and we can't crumble and be ready to throw away the team over one dissappointment. Congrats to Jamaica and Yendi Phillips. Rest assured T&T we will work hard to give you reason to cheer in the years to come. This dissappointment has been tough but we will continue to give our very best. On that you can be assured.

[> Subject: I am a Trini based abroad. I have been following Latoya's and our other delegates' progress from abroad for the last decade or so. I got up at 1:30 am London time on Tuesday 24th to watch Latoya win the pageant. When the semifinalists' names were being called, I felt like it was a death sentence being read to me. It was excruciatingly nerve wracking for me. I really did think I would have gotten a heart attack or nervous breakdown. When Latoya's name wasn't called, everything in me sank. I was preparing for this year's pageant since Latoya won Miss T&T. Needless to say I had to leave the office early that Tuesday because I was sick, I am talking about the kind of sick you feel when you are grief stricken. That's the level of support the Miss T&T team has from me. Now is there an email address that I can write to in order to give some edifying feedback as I do not think that this is the forum to do so. Once again, I think MUO got it wrong by not selecting T&T this year.

[> Subject: Finally got the motivation to post after the shocking, surprising exclusion of La Toya from the top 15 of Miss Universe. There are many reasons offered as to why La Toya did not place and I hope the team re group and take a good look at what the Miss U. pageant of today is looking for. I do believe in this team and I know they have what it takes to produce winners. They need to get out of the days of Wendy Fitzwilliam and focus on what the modern day Miss Universe is about. Look at the entire girl and her overall presentation on stage. Alot of people thought La Toya did not have that spark and vibrance on stage that was needed to advance far in the competition. Some thought they went a little to far with her body. La Toya is a great young woman and did an amazing job representing her country. I fully support the team and I know you all will learn from your mistakes and produce great representitives and winners. When does screening start for the next Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago?.

I have to say FIRST AND FOREMOST that LaToya was a wonderful T&T representative and she did a superb job. That being said, now I have my 2 cents for the pageant company to cash-first you guys are great; you are definitely the right team to train our reps. for MU-in fact I wish Adrian was doing the interview prep. for our MW reps. also. Now about last year's local pageant-to be quite honest I was surprised when LaToya won-She had a stunning face but was 100% model in my book and maintained that "model" aura straight through the MU competition. I have no regrets about TT sending her to MU2010 but if she had placed it would have been "revolutionary" in my mind. Needless to say, she was a competitor but she was not what I would define as a beauty queen-she is just 100% model. Some models can make the transition to beauty queen very easily but in my mind she is the fist model TT ever sent to a beauty pageant.

I do have some concerns about the selection process for MT&TU though. From last year's competition, Ms. Arima by far had the best body -shoulders,cleavage,waist and hips (but the face was not that stunning) while Ms. Plymouth was by far the most photogenic (very MW material). Apart from that, in my mind, Jenna Marie Andre was supposed to be last year's rep. (and based on the top 15 at this year's MU pageant I can say she probably would have made it to top 10 at least). I just don't understand why a strong competitor like Jenna was dumped during the semis and then we had someone who had no chance of cracking the MU top 15 as the first runner up. I just want to stress to the new franchise holder- MU is first and foremost a BEAUTY PAGEANT- not a brains pageant-If you don't have the look then don't turn up to even compete.

Anyways, I am looking forward to MT&TU 2011. Hopefully it is in November. I would like to suggest though that the pageant company regularize the competition timing for MUT&T screenings so that the young ladies always know what week of every year is the MUT&T screenings.
