Howdy Lee-Ann;

Sorry, I didn't know him. However, SP4 David Forest Black's Army Serial Number is US 53614013 (which means that he was drafted) and his MOS was 11B20 (Light Weapons Infantryman). He was born on 10/7/48 and his hometown of record is Pickens, SC. His tour of duty in Vietnam commenced on 11/23/68 and he was assigned to A Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile). He was KIA on 3/25/69 in Thua Thien Province due to "Hostile, Ground Casualty, Multiple Fragmentation Wounds". SP4 Black's religious preference was Baptist, he was single, and his body was recovered.

There is a homepage for the 1st/502nd PIR at http://unitpages.military.com/unitpages/unit.do?id=101251&home_page_id=101251 , but I think that your best bet is to go through the 101st Vietnam Veterans' Association website at http://www.101namvet.com/ . They have a guestbook where you can leave a message and the webmaster, Larry Weisbarth, just happens to have served in the exact same company as SP4 Black (although he did so during 1967--1968). As a sister, you qualify as next-of-kin and can request a copy of your brother's Army personnel file from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Good luck and may your son keep himself safe in Iraq and return home soon!
