I interpreted the story by thinking that while the author was at war he could only see death and more and more men dying. The more men that died the more men that came to die. He saw no end to it. Towards the end of the story I believe the author is talking about the Vietnam wall. He talks about the names and how he feels that he is not alone in his suffering. Just as the men on the front line and then enemies attacking he saw no end to the names on the wall. Thank you for writing this short story. Its hidden message is very meaningful to me being that I haven’t fought in a war and appreciate what you and others have done for me and out country.
