What must I do to be saved?...

Would you like to know that you will go to heaven when you die? Would you like to be sure that you are saved? Would you like to have a clean slate to begin again?
You can if you will ask Jesus in your heart. Please read the following steps to understand how to do this for yourself.

Recognize that you are a sinner. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) Each of us has sinned. Only Jesus was perfect. We must recognize that we cannot be good enough on our own to get to heaven.

Understand the consequences of sin. "For the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) This not only means a death of the body but a spiritual death as well. That means a separation from God.

Realize that the debt has been paid. The debt for our sins was paid for by Jesus. He who knew no sin died for us and therefore paid the debt that we could not pay. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

Repent of your sins. Once you recognize that you are a sinner, you must choose to turn away from your sins. To repent means to make a 180 degree turn and head in the opposite direction. If we are not moving toward Jesus, we are moving away from Him. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." (Acts 3:19)

Receive the Lord Jesus as your personal Savior. "But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, not of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:12-13)

Confess the Lord as your Savior. If you receive the Lord you must tell those you are around. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH ON HIM SHALL NOT BE ASHAMED." (Romans 10:9-11)

If you have followed these steps are you ready to ask Jesus in your heart? If so you may wish to pray this prayer with me. Or you may choose to pray your own prayer. A sincere prayer is more important than just the right words.

Dear God,

I confess that I am a sinner. I know that I have messed things up so much. I know that there is nothing I can do that will make me clean. I ask you to cleanse me and wash my sins away. I repent of my sins and turn away from them. I ask you to come into my heart and make me a new person. I want to start over and make my life count for you. I thank you for loving me enough to die for me to pay for my debt. I believe that you rose from the dead and that you are alive today. I thank you that you have saved me.
In Jesus's name I pray,
AMEN

If you prayed that prayer just now please let me know.

I encourage you to seek out a pastor and a church who can help you grow in the Lord. This decision is the most important decision you could ever make. Just remember that being a Christian doesn't mean that you will never struggle again. But it does mean that now you have Him to help you and strengthen you. May God Bless you always.
