commencing our journey to the world of beauty pageants until we finally realized
that you pageant fans didn't like us to be here. The reason - We were
"PAKISTANIS" & we are proud to be one. But the background of it we never knew
until & unless someone at the Rahul's Message Board said that we are "Zuneina
Ali Khan" who fooled Global Beauties during the Beauty Olympics. A harsh message
was soon sent by my Vice-President Faraz Akhter on the message board who said
that we don't care if we are which we ARE GENERALLY "NOT". The case reached its
critical limit when we started to mail & contact other beauty Organizations like
Belleza Venezolana, GB, Rahul's, Beauland, Misses Mundo de Chile & many
others......... for which was the reply Vin6132.exe VIRUS that we received under
the e-mail address

"Believe it or not Mr. Henrique Fontes if you never sent this virus then please
check your e-mail systems some might have hacked in" WE ARE TRUE! Its not about
Bashing GB as we consider & merit GLOBAL BEAUTIES as to be the BEST OF ALL. Not
only this.... our A/C received upto 12 messages that included the Virus of other
origins from different fan e-mails. The e-mail was

assistants told us that pageant fans say that we are not only Zuneina but Miss

website before we were opening it officially. We were to make important
contributions to you people & the pageant websites. Pictures of Miss Northern
Marianas World which we officially received from NMBPA Organization like these
ones of Tracy Lynn Rosario & Kenylyn:





We actually wanted
to widen the information both rumored & confirmed pageant news. But Global
Beauties I am crying out we lost all our information as the VIRUS from one of
the unknown mails brought down the whole PC system & erasing all information &
photos. Was it our MISTAKE to be a PAKISTANI? WAS IT OUR MISTAKE THAT WE WANTED
TO HELP YOU PEOPLE OUT ....? DID WE DESERVE SUCH THING? Well i will never accuse
all of you because of this because every one have a right to say about anything.
But bringing our network down was completely unpredictable. However, we are
still sorry for any inconvenience that our presence in this arena was created to
you people. Well all of you people must get a lesson from it that in this
selfish & cunning world out of a 1000 there are still few good people left. SO

MISS PUERTO RICO UNIVERSE 2005



• MISS PUERTO RICO UNIVERSE 2005: This year's pageant will kick off starting September 14th when the official delegates will be presented to the press. Critical correspondent Héctor Colón González will be covering the pageant for this site. This year's theme will be "Glamour y Belleza" (Glamor and Beauty) and the delegates will be initially presented wearing white dresses. The color white has been selected because it symbolizes purity, peace and it is also the most favored evening gown color. Magaly Febles, the franchise owner and director, stated that this year's requirements and competition would be much tougher; she has vowed to produce the fifth Miss Universe from the island after Alba Reyes's excellent performance last year. Febles had to reject several aspirants who did not meet the minimum height requirement of 5'5" and who are overweight, but she also welcomes "recycled" beauties because she believes in not "wasting" them. The preliminaries will take place on October 8th at Teatro Tapia in the old San Juan. The final night will be held on October 14th at Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré. These are a few of her own words for the bolivian media.
"Here I am again, after the Mrs. International contest in Chicago. I went through so many mixed emotions coming to me all at the same time: joy, gratitude, love, nervousness, and stress; it was just incredible. For those who believe that these contests are only about physical beauty, let me tell you that is just not true. This experience I will forever carry in my heart as the most pleasant memory in my life. The warmth, cordiality, and care for one another were so authentic, and the acceptance that I felt in this group of women will forever change my life"

At this moment I am crying with over-bearing emotion while remembering so many special moments I lived and shared with individuals I hope to see again, as if they were beautiful pictures in a photo album.
Now that I am a little more rested, I want to share with you that the each of the ladies in the contest deserve to win the crown; they are very special women who fight for their ideals, and are dedicated to help organizations by volunteering and donating their labor and time without expecting anything in return.But only one could take the crown home, and this time it wasn’t meant to be me. "

I cannot tell you that I wasn’t disappointed and hurt by the result, as many people had hoped I would win, and deep inside of me I harbored the same hopes; but I think the judges may not always get to know you well enough in 5 minutes. I cried a lot and I was very emotional, but I kept my head high and was happy for my peers who also deserved to be among the ten finalists.
At the end of the night I was in assistance to the official celebratory party even though I felt bad that I may have disappointed the people that had believed in me, but today, with a clearer head from all the buzz of the occasion, I know that I accomplished my mission because I was true to myself, I was authentic, without undue airs, affected behavior, feigned poses or pompous vocabulary. And, I believe, that I made a great difference. People were very empathetic with me-- I couldn’t believe that my peers loved me so much! I can tell you that I had a chance to speak to most of them.
The women and the organizers were very interested and curious about my story, the reasons for my presence at the contest and about what my message was; and that’s what I did, I delivered them. It was God’s will and He has a reason for everything, and I now feel at peace with myself. I ended in 11th place in the contest, and considering that, unlike most other women in the competition who had years of preparation, coaching and experience even winning some events, I had no previous experience in this type of contests I did well.
But what matters about that night is that my message was heard and I demonstrated that not having a leg does not mean one cannot be part of society at large, and be happy. My life has changed if as a result of my presence in the competition I was a positive influence in the life of anyone, and that was my purpose that night.
The women wanted to look my leg from the first moment I told them it was an artificial leg, something they found hard to believe since they had seen me walking in high heels and doing it so well. That opened up our relationship and the spontaneity with which many girls approached me to find out more about myself. One young woman told me that her husband had cried when he saw me during a rehearsal because recently his father had lost a leg from diabetes complications and that after seeing me walking, dancing and moving around and enjoying life like everyone else, he felt that maybe losing a leg was not such a bad thing.

All the women exchanged addresses and contact information. It was a very united group and this made all the difference, there were no unpleasant moments, or arguments. This whole experience was a dream come true for me, never did I imagine that I would come to a contest stage and show myself as I am withouth that little piece of me in front of so many people and cameras; but there I was representing my country well. I don’t have enough words to express the pride I felt representing Bolivia as women around me smiled and cheered as my name was called on the stage.
This was a very special group of women who have, or have had a challenge within themselves, and are making a difference in their world by working for many years in charitable organizations. I was the junior of the group, not in age, but in experience working in my platform, and in contests of this nature. But I went, I was present, and I accomplished important purposes. Now many more people know where BOLIVIA is, in the HEART OF SOUTH AMERICA.
I can’t comment on immediate plans but I can tell you that this contest has opened many doors and opportunities for me. For now, I need to rest my body and mind, always taking it one day at a time and thinking positively.
I want to give thanks to my husband, my parents, my sisters, Gloria and Tatiana Limpias, and to everyone who believed in me. Here I am, always looking forward. I represented you in the best manner I know how, always being myself, without ever compromising my essence. I promise you that I will continue fighting to have my message heard, to have the voice of many channeled through my own. This was not but the first of many steps to follow. My purpose is clear.

La belleza, a pesar del interés común casi universal que provoca, nos resulta difícil de comprender. Intentar buscar una definición de este concepto no es tarea fácil, ya que el concepto sería algo que pudiéramos sacar en común de todas las cosas que consideramos bellas.

Esto último resultaría imposible, ya que a la hora de hacerlo habría tantas opiniones como gente opinando. Muchos autores consideran que la belleza es lo que resulta agradable a los sentidos y que por consiguiente causa placer, pero no todo lo que nos causa placer tiene por qué ser bello.

Otro problema que presenta definir la belleza es que se puede enfocar como las cualidades que nos resultan agradables y que saltan a la vista de cualquier cosa a contemplar, o como la emoción que ese algo despierta en nosotros. La primera apreciación es más objetiva, ya que las cualidades normalmente saltan a la vista, pero las emociones que nos pueden provocar, es algo más íntimo y personal, y por lo tanto más subjetivo.

Habiéndose planteado las dificultades, podríamos decir que bello es lo que promueve en nosotros una experiencia estética, aceptándolo como una posible definición.

La belleza ha sido objeto de culto desde que surgió el Homo sapiens. Por aquel entonces ya empezaban a decorar sus cuevas, creaban pequeños artilugios que simplemente les servían para decorar y no tenían fin útil.

En la antigüedad clásica ya se encontran datos más concluyentes acerca de la belleza, como estudios y reflexiones acerca de ésta. Por aquel entonces la belleza constituía una cualidad que hacía que algo nos pareciese bello.

A esta cualidad se le llamó armonía. También aparecieron los primeros cánones de belleza, los cuales indicaban cuáles tenían que ser las proporciones idóneas para que un cuerpo se viese bello. En general la belleza se percibía desde un punto de vista objetivo.

Esta percepción de la belleza se siguió manteniendo en la Edad Media. Como consecuencia del auge del cristianismo de esa época, la belleza dependía de la intervención de Dios, por lo que si se consideraba bello algo es porque había sido una creación divina.

La belleza material era externa, física o sensible. Esta cualidad se marchita con el tiempo.
La belleza espiritual no se marchita con el tiempo, sino que permanecía en nuestro interior. Son cualidades como la bondad, el amor, la simpatía, etc.
Con el paso del tiempo llegó otra nueva etapa en la historia y viene siendo habitual, en el trayecto de la belleza, también surgieron cambios. Estamos hablando del Renacimiento. Muchos autores están de acuerdo en que el concepto de belleza volvió a ser el de la antigüedad clásica, porque se empezaron a tomar valores de aquella época que ya se perdieron en la Edad Media. Uno de estos valores fue la concepción más naturalista de la belleza, que sirvió de inspiración a los artistas de la época.

De nuevo se vuelve a tomar frente a la belleza, tal y como sucedió en la Antigüedad Clásica y en la Edad Media.

En la modernidad desaparece esta visión objetiva de la belleza y se empieza a subjetivizar. En el siglo XVIII ya se percibe la belleza de algo no por cómo el objeto en sí, sino por lo que éste despierta en nosotros. Esta concepción la tenían muy clara los empiristas e ilustrados de la época.

Beauty is visual pleasantness of a person, animal, object or scene, and also pleasantness of sound, especially music.

Understanding the nature and meaning of beauty is one of the key themes in the philosophical discipline known as aesthetics.

The composer and critic Robert Schumann distinguished between two kinds of beauty, natural beauty and poetic beauty: the former being found in the contemplation of nature, the latter in man's conscious, creative intervention into nature. Schumann indicated that in music, or other art, both kinds of beauty appear, but the former is only sensual delight, while the latter begins where the former leaves off.

Decoration is an object or act to increase beauty of a person, room, etc.; see also Interior decoration. It may also be something that is an honor to get, see List of prizes, medals, and awards.


A common theory says that beauty is the appearance of things and people that are good. This has many supporting examples. Most of us judge healthy, symmetric, fertile or virile human beings as beautiful. Symmetry may be important because it is evidence that the person grew up in a healthy way, from without visible genetic defects. One traditional, subtle feature that is considered an indication of beautiful women in all cultures is a waist-to-hip ratio of about 75%. The waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) theory was discovered by psychologist Dr. Devendra Singh of the University of Texas at Austin. Physiologists have shown that this ratio accurately indicates most women's fertility. Traditionally, in premodern ages when food was more scarce, fat people were judged more attractive than slender.

"Beauty as goodness" still has whole classes of significant counterexamples with no agreed solution. These include such things as a glacier, or a ruggedly dry desert mountain range. Many people find beauty in hostile nature, but this seems bad, or at least unrelated to any sense of goodness. Another type of counterexample are comic or sarcastic works of art, which can be good, but are rarely beautiful.

It is well known that people's skills develop and change their sense of beauty. Carpenters may view an out-of-true building as ugly, and many master carpenters can see out-of-true angles as small as half a degree. Many musicians can likewise hear as dissonant a tone that's high or low by as little as two percent of the distance to the next note. Most people have similar aesthetics about the work or hobbies they've mastered.

The earliest theory of beauty can be found in the works of early Greek philosophers from the pre-Socratic period, like Pythagoras. The extant writings attributed to Pythagoras reveal that the Pythagorean school, if not Pythagoras himself, saw a strong connection between mathematics and beauty. In particular, they noted that objects proportioned according to the golden ratio seemed more attractive. Some modern research seems to confirm this, in that people whose facial features are symmetric and proportioned according the golden ratio are consistently ranked as more attractive than those whose faces are not.

Different cultures have deified beauty, typically in female forms. Here is a list of the goddesses of beauty in different mythologies.

Lakshmi - Hindu mythology
Venus - Roman mythology
Even mathematical formulae can be considered beautiful. eiπ + 1 = 0 is commonly considered one of the most beautiful theorems in mathematics. (see Euler's identity)

Another connection between mathematics and beauty which played a prominent role in Pythagoras' philosophy was the way in which musical tones can be arranged in mathematical sequences, which repeat at regular intervals called octaves.

Beauty contests claim to be able to judge beauty. The millihelen is sometimes jokingly defined as the scientific unit of human beauty. This derives from the legend of Helen of Troy as presented in Christopher Marlowe's The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus, in which her beauty was said to have launched a thousand ships. The millihelen is therefore the degree of beauty that can launch one ship.

A survey conducted by London Guildhall University of 11,000 people showed that (subjectively) good-looking people earn more. Less attractive people earned, on average, 13% less than more attractive people, while the penalty for overweight was around 5%.

Le culte des sens a semblé à certains une issue.

For the first time Miss Universe Pageant was held in 1952, a couple of months after first Miss World Pageant. So it was the American answer for British idea. It is held every year, around May. Polish Misses haven't won the crown and they haven't succeded top 10 since 1989. Miss Universe belongs to three major international pageants, and for many it's the most important one. The owner of Miss Universe is Donald Trump. This year Poland was represented by Paulina Panek.

AUSTRALIAN BEAUTY

The new Miss Universe is Jennifer Hawkins from Asutralia. In top 5 there was no place foe European beauties. Rhe runner ups are form : USA, Puerto Rico, Paraguay and Trinidad & Tobago. In top 15 there were only two representatives of Europe: Miss Switzerland and Norway, known to all beauty contests fans form Miss World Pageant. The biggest surprise was Miss Venezuela, who wasn't qualified to top 15. It has happened since 1983 !! Also the webmasters' favourite, Miss Ukraine wasn't in the final round.

48 hours to go, and Miss Bolivia affirms she regrets giving the interview in English. The strength with which she was known is now buried under harsh criticisms.
She answered the phone crying. She made an effort to speak with ‘El Deber’, a dialogue she had to interrupt several times due to her difficulty to speak. She was torn to pieces.
El Deber- Who makes you cry so much?
Gabriela- Who do you think? All of Bolivia!
El Deber- But there are people that support you as well…
Gabriela- Yes, I infinitely thank them but my conscience can’t comprehend that right now. I think things are being over magnified. I don’t know, I will never comprehend this. I have always tried to do things right, I put so much effort and now, for a word or two, people are…
El Deber- Did you view your interview once more?
Gabriela- No. All I know is what has been published. I know that in my head things sounded one way, I translated it and it sounded different. I acknowledge this, but people should not be sending me so many letters and destroying me in such a way for my mistake. They should not treat me this way, I have never wronged anyone (she cries). Everyone misunderstood what I said and now I am paying for it. They are being my executioners and I really do not deserve this (she cries).
El Deber- How was the interview with the jury, were you crying like you are crying now?
Gabriela- No, I have my moments of relief.
El Deber- What did they ask you?
Gabriela- The suit I was wearing had some Ayoreo accessories, which grasped their attention. (For the reader: AYOREOS ARE AN INDIGENOUS ETHNIA THAT INHABIT BOLIVIA'S LOWLANDS)
I explained to them that my country has many cultures and that I am proud of all of them. My job at Miss Universe was to promote the diversity of my country, that is why everyday at the contest I wore something that represented a culture of my country so that people learn about its diversity. But this time, I have a translator and he translated the meaning of everything I say perfectly.

As a Miss Universe's fan I was thrilled to find myself in beautiful Quito to attend the pageant and the events that precede the final night. The very first thing you notice when you arrive in Quito is how this country has completely embraced the idea of Miss Universe as a portal to showcase Ecuador and its wonders. Then, after talking to the overwhelmingly friendly ?Quiteños? one realizes the strong political connotation of the pageant as Ecuador's President, Mr. Lucio Gutierrez, has been given a ?break? due to the international attention that Ecuador has been given these days, but the sentence is clear: once the pageant is over he will have to face an extensive array of demands and complaints.

Here are my impressions on the pageant as of today:

THE VENUE: Ecuador not only is stunning, but it has gone above and beyond what the Miss Universe Organization expected. The treatment to the media as well as the exuberant events are proof of this. The Marriott Hotel in Quito is simply gorgeous and the security is extreme. When I see how the Ecuadorians have exhausted every resource available to fulfill the demands of hosting such an event my heat goes out to them when I think that their effort may not bring the benefits they expect. Latin American countries regardless of their economical struggle or political unrest still believe in the prestige of Miss Universe, contrary to the rest of the world which see it as an overpriced and unworthy event. I expect to see Miss Universe around Latin America for quite a while, and hope that Ecuador as well as future venues do not suffer the same results as Trinidad and Panama. You have to experience the hospitality in Ecuador to believe it! It's really extraordinary.

THE ACTIVITIES: One word: SPECTACULAR! The Ecuadorian committee has put in place amazing events: parades, fashion shows, dinners, visits to local dignitaries...you name it, they've done it! From Quito, to Guayaquil, to Cuenca; the girls have been constantly busy and having a great time. The Miss Universe Organization officially expressed to the local committee that these activities have been the best activities for the last 20 years, so I guess they are pretty satisfied.

THE GIRLS: This is a VERY strong group, from experienced pageant girls, to gorgeous newcomers; this pageant promises to be the best in the last 5 years. This is a very diverse group of girls and the judges will have an extremely difficult time choosing only 15. The press favorites are : Ecuador, USA, Venezuela, Spain, Norway, Mexico, Panama and Ukraine.

The Latin girls are strong as usual, the European girls come with a lot of experience as many of them have competed in Miss World beforehand, the Caribbean girls seem to have formed an alliance and are not willing to be counted out, the Asian girls keep a low profile now but I expect them to heat up the competition as the prelims approach; the African girls are always very poised and polite. The fashion show let us know who's who as it was very much like a preliminary competition.

Ahead of the game at this moment are: Norway ( very charismatic and wholesome), Switzerland (very exotic and fresh, with little make up on she still has the most stunning face in the competition), Ukraine ( the queen of the catwalk, she is here to win!), Ecuador (regal and very friendly...the perfect hostess), Venezuela ( the tradition goes on as Ana is extremely polished and elegant as well as the owner of the best legs in the pageant); USA ( Shandi is competing very strong and many people think she is America's 8th Miss Universe), Paraguay (she looks like a supermodel and her complexion and body are sheer perfection), Chile (THE body of the competition, she could easily become a super model) and finally Spain (outgoing and energetic she has become the media's darling).
