Subject: Does the c-not-of-c know Jesus?

George asked this question, “The great paradox that the situation always returns to is that, if the Bible sucks and can't be relied on for anything definite, why does the Community of Christ like Jesus so much? After all, pretty much the only thing we know about Jesus is in the Bible.”

I believe that the c-not-of-c does not rely on the Bible, (or the Book of Mormon, or the Doctrine of Covenants) to know Jesus. And therefore, they do not know Jesus.

No, they rely upon silly feel good nonsense. (That is the nice word.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantra

"A mantra (Tib.སྔགས་ ngak; Wyl. sngags) [1] is a sound, syllable, word, or group of words that is considered capable of "creating transformation" (cf. spiritual transformation).[2] Its use and type varies according to the school and philosophy associated with the mantra.[3]"

Here is a small example.

What this all allows them to do is to open themselves up to deceiving spirits. These deceiving spirits don’t even need to come from outside, since many of them don’t believe that Satan exists. But it allows them to look at the innermost carnal desires and convince themselves that “the spirit” is moving within them to allow them to indulge in any big or small desire that they may have.

So, forget about learning about Jesus Christ from the scriptures. Make it all up as you go along. No wonder they are so messed up.

THE IDENTITY OF THE CHURCHPage 2
The message of the gospel is concerned with the deepest human needs. It offers no solutions for the problem of collective evil, the question of death, nor even a solution for sin. The gospel is the assurance that all is changed in Christ.
