Subject: Lies about the NCC and WCC

The reason I have made such a big deal about the RLDS/Community of Christ officially joining the NCC is this:

One of the reasons that O.C. Henson told Richard Price that the latter was facing silencing was because Richard Price had printed things about the church that were not true.

He berated Price for not writing all the authors of church articles and asking them what they had meant when they wrote the things Price was disturbed about.

(Of course, John has already let on that anybody who asks a question that the leadership finds unpalatable will not get an answer.)

To top it all off, Henson identified one of the lies that Price had allegedly published was the the First Presidency intended to take the church into the National Council of Churches. Henson said that this was patently untrue, and quoted an "official" statement in the Herald that this was not true.

And lo, and behold, just as Price predicted, the leadership finally managed to get the papers signed making the CofC's membership in the NCC official.

Is the hierarchy going to censure O.C. Henson for telling a falsehood? Will it silence or otherwise punish the authors of the statement in the Herald that turns out NOT to have been true? Will the hierarchy reverse Price's silencing, on the grounds that the charges against him were false? After all, Price was silenced for printing that the leaders wanted to join the NCC. And despite the denials that were as thick as flies on a cow patty, they certainly did intend to do so.

These guys could lie circles around Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, Joseph Stalin, and Enedict Arnold. But they make a great pretense of taking offense at alleged lies that turn out to be solidly true.

BTW, Lois, I still have a copy of the transcript of Richard Price's "counseling" session just before his silencing. If you don't still have a copy of it from my posting it back in 2004, I'll post it here again.
