John, liberals and marijuana are like ducks and water. Now, Israel A. Smith never gave any cause for anyone to suspect he might be a liberal. Now, Frederick M. Smith's comments on peyote are another thing entirely. It is impossible for me to separate the "Central Directional Control" mandate the 1920's from those comments. You remember "Central Directional Control." That's the mandate from the First Presidency that drove thousands of members out of the RLDS church in the 1920's.

Given that you think that I long for "the good ol' days "when African-Americans and women knew their place" as you said in one of your posts, I think that you have made a personal attack on me equal to what I have said about the leadership.

Doesn't bother me though. That's a characteristic of liberalism -- the tacit "understanding" that anyone who isn't in favor of free love and drive-through marijuana outlets is some kind of cave man. If I'm speaking with a liberal, who is recognizable by the championing of distorted and perverted knockoffs of real causes, I pretty much know that he thinks I'm in some some kind of Neanderthal state that he has been taught that humankind will magically evolve out of if Christianity is just watered down out of existence.

Given what the leadership in the CofC has become, John, and what the church is becoming under their tutelage, a little "unbecoming" is certainly appropriate. If a little unbecoming doesn't occur, the atheists, agnostics, and communitarians will be looking at western Christian nations in their coffins and saying, "Don't they look natural?"

George
