Lois, this lie of the First Presidency ranks up there with these proven lies:

"I feel that the wealthy should pay more taxes, for the system to be fair."

"Saddam has weapons of mass destruction."

"I did not have sex with that woman."

"I am not a crook.

"I am not a communist.

"After the Jersey Turnpike is paid for in 1958, the toll booths will come down."

"I have no further territorial claims to make in Europe."

"We will have peace in our time."

"Roosevelt will keep our boys out of war."

"The income tax will only be paid by the extremely wealthy."

"The Civil War was fought to free the slaves."

And so on, ad nauseum. I think that 2009 was the year that all Americans began to lose patience with liars. Or at least with those who weren't quite clever enough to avoid being caught lying.
