"Has church leadership already determined the outcome on issues of same-gender marriage and ordaining people in same-gender relationships?"

I believe their answer is an outright lie.

Dave Heinz is a campus minister at Graceland University and is in favor of same gender marriage in Iowa. How do you suppose he is ministering to the young people at Graceland? Do you really believe that c-not-of-c leadership was unaware of the plans for a same gender marriage at Graceland?

Journeying Toward a USA National Conference

BY THE USA APOSTOLIC TEAM

As a global Community of Christ, we share a common mission to proclaim Jesus Christ and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace. We share a common identity and message that includes a common set of Enduring Principles and belief statements.

Q: Has church leadership already determined the outcome on issues of same-gender marriage and ordaining people in same-gender relationships?

A: No, church leadership is committed to discernment leading to the USA National Conference. This process will include spiritual practices, dialogue, scripture reflection, and study of credible resources that provide multiple perspectives on human sexuality and healthy, faithful, and committed relationships.

O.K. Here is the funny part. I guess they had to say something since most of their names are in this thread naming them as homosexual agenda proponents. (Lois)

The USA Apostolic Team invites the church in the USA into this discernment process with no predetermined agenda or outcome. This does not infer that individual apostles do not have perspectives on the issues. It does, however, signal our trust in God, the impress of the Holy Spirit, and the collective wisdom of the US body to discern the mind and will of God on these issues.

Homophobia Isn't A Family Value

"As clergy representing a broad spectrum of theological beliefs, we join together to state our public support of civil marriage equality for same-gender couples and our opposition to any current or future legislation diminishing the marriage rights rightfully given by Iowa’s Supreme Court."

When a dialogue session was brought up in the 2002-2003 school year, the GSA also played a pivotal role removing the anti-homosexual hate speeches of Dr. Paul Cameron off the university campus. Dr. Cameron was brought to campus to give his view on homosexuality. When it was discovered his speech lacked scientific research and teetered on the edge of hate speech, the administration, through a push from concerned faculty members, students and GSA members, removed him from campus. The dialogue was set up to provide under-standing from both viewpoints on homosexuality, not to provoke hate. The GSA also participated in a silent protest of Dr. Cameron's speech, which was moved to the Lamoni Community Center.
