Lois, the part about Don Compier leaving the CofC seminary to join the faculty of a Methodist Seminary is interesting.

I guess the canon, theology, and general doctrine of the staff at an extremely liberal Methoidst Seminary matches that of the Community of Christ well enough.

It might interest you to know that a lot of the United Methodist churches that are still growing refuse to hire any staff from liberal seminaries such as St. Paul's -- even if it is a "Methodist" school.

One such congregation is Foundry United Methodist Church in Jersey Village, which Glenn told us that he now attends. The ministers of the Foundry reaffirm the fact of the Resurrection and of the Virgin Birth. Were the congregation to hire ministerial staff from a schools like St. Paul's, grass would be growing in the parking lot -- not because the congregation would walk out, but because the poisonous theology would slowly kill the ocngregation the way it is slowly killing the Community of Christ.

I wonder how many courses on the Book of Mormon, Inspired Version, and Doctrine and Covenants that Mr. Compier is going to teach at St. Paul's. I guess "denominational executives" are only concerned with mass production of the product that surveys have shown will "sell." No one who actually accepts the Book of Mormon as the word of God could bring himself to join the faculty of a Protestant seminary, even if he were welcome there, as Mr. Compier obviously is.

I guess Mr. Compier has decided that working for Studebaker was a losing proposition and decided to go to work for another Studebaker almunus, John Delorean.

George
