Still in the testing room, where he had been for a few hours, Signas sat with his arm folded around his chest, and his hand to his face. It was a posture of contemplation.
"Lifesaver, what of Mega Man X and Zero?", He asked. His voice was sounding his concern. "Has there been any word from either of them?"
Lifesaver shook his head silently, then added, "They have not been seen for many days. We've repaired all of the damage X did to Hunter Headquarters, but we have not seen him since his reaction to the virus."
"I wonder, could Mega Man X have gone Maverick?", Signas asked. Lifesaver replied, "His reaction to the code structure was unique. At first, his body rejected it, and his own internal security systems began to set up a perimiter around his main motor funcions, but his active protocols began to change, and for some reason, that violent erruption occured."
"I do not know what it means Lifesaver. I have been thinking about it, and watching the play back of it every day since he left. I wish I knew he was okay."
"Don't Worry Signas. Zero will find him. There isn't a place where Zero cannot find, or get to."
"Yes. Zero...his silence also disturbs me. I wish he would at least give me a progress report. This news about Alia also distresses me. This is a difficult time for us Lifesaver. I know we are just starting out here, really. It just looks like it is going to be a rocky start. We're going to have to pull through this."
"What do yo want me to do?", Lifesaver asked.
"I don' know yet. I need more time to think. I am glad at least that Sigma is being quiet for now.", Signas answered.
"Signas. You know as well as I do that silence from Sigma could mean terrible things."
"Yes Lifesaver, I know. The 'calm before the storm,' right? Until anything happens with him, or with X and Zero we're going to have to take advantage of the quiet time. I want all new Hunters to increase the amount of time they spend in the training sims, and combat lessons. I want security tightened around here, and a full inventory of everything in the building. Lock this place down too! I want to know every person's coming and going. Get Douglas up here as well, he and I need to discuss some weapon and armor upgrades. We're going to regroup, and prepare for the worst. Once we get word from Zero, we'll know where to go from there."
Signas seemed to feel a little better about things, but there was still much to be done. (to be contnued)
Was that okay? I just wanted to tie in X's disappearance with the rest of the story.
