"We read you sir.", Bit replied. "Loud and clear sir!", Byte added. "I have to leave the island for a couple of days on business. Vile is coming along....for my protection, and insurance. I leave the tournament in your hands. Do you understand what this means?" "Yes sir we do.", Byte said in a strict tone. "If you make any mistakes, you are aware of the circumstances?" ,Doppler pressed. "Yes sir, we are aware of the consequences of failure." , Bit answered. "We will not fail you sir." ,Byte said loyally. "I trust you will not. However....there is one more matter I need to discuss." "What is that sir?", Byte asked. "How is the plan proceeding?" "We have confirmation from the contact. The rendezvous point had been cleared, and intelligence has returned with a full report on the drop sight. It looks clean sir." , Bit said. "Very good, I'll want to read the briefing enroute. What about the savings, do we have enough?" "We have 48 and change sir.", Byte answered. "That is no good. I do not think that we can negotiate the price." "Sir, he asks the impossible! Such an exorbanent amount of money." ,Byte argued. "I know. Don't worry, I have no intention of paying him. He just needs to see that the money is there. Can we tap into our emergency savings?" "Well sir, we have inadequate funds at present, is there somthing you might suggest?" "Not right now, but I'll think of something. Doppler out." All the while that Doppler had been talking, he had been exiting the arena, and making his way to his shuttle. Boarding the shuttle, he and Vile prepared to leave the island. He was quite pleased to see an air force patrol all ready in place. The city lights remained on too, which meant that the reactor was holding. And, since he didn't see any smoke, or fires, his pther specialists must be doing a good job of quelling the rebellious spectators. He was quite pleased with them all.
