RX, along with BR on his shoulder had managed to make it through any patrols they came across. Luckily RX was very stelthy. They were now just a few meters away from the core room.
RX hid against the wall to gauge the enemy numbers...
RX: It looks like there are 3 "A-level" patrol units guarding the control room. They are much stronger than normal patrols. There is also more than likely some patrols inside as well.
BR: It seems that Wily understands how important this core really is. If he looses the core then he looses this battle as his fortres will be powerless.
RX: Indeed, from a staegic point of view it makes sense that this place would be heavily guarded.
BR: Ok, so what is your plan? do you think you can take them before they set off the alarm?
RX: Hmmm...probably, but bare in mind that these are not just your average patrols. Granted they are no match for me, but they may be able to set the alarm before I can get all of them.
BR: That is a bit worrying. If back-up arrives we may never be able to get in there.
RX: Perhaps, but what is more likely is even if they manage to get to the alarm and sound it, who is going to come? I'd guess that all of Wily's forces are busy trying to protect this place. Add to that the amount of mahem going on here, would anyone even hear it?
BR: You do have a point, however, you said it yourself: This is a valueable strategic point. It would make sense for Wily to have back-up set up for just this area.
RX: That is a possibility. But one of Wily's downfalls has always been his overconfidence, he probably does not even think anyone will get this far, let alone be too much for his proud A-level defence patrols to handle. I say we go now. What do you think?
BR: Hmm...I'd agree that Wily is overconfident, but he is no fool, he is very intelligent. I doubt he'd let his overconfidence blind him to such a stategic area.
RX: Well, It looks like we'll be taking a chance either way. So, I'm going to attack, and I'll make sure the alarm is not a factor. But even so, if this core is as important as you say, I'll destroy everything that moves, whether its patrols, back-up or just maintainance.
BR: I don't really see any other way...unless I attack as well, that would greatly increase our chances!
RX: No, you said it yourself, you can barely walk. Sure your an exceptional reploid, but in this condition you would only slow me down or get yourself killed, or even both. Normally I'd gladly accept your help, but look at this strategicly. You don't send in a soldier with no arms to fire a rifle.
BR: I guess your right...but perhaps I could lay down a blanket of cover fire? my buster still works and I'd be reasonably safe. And from a "strategic" point of view it would increase our success rate.
RX: Very well, do as you wish. But only cover fire, if it gets too hot I want you to get out of danger.
BR: Ok, get ready!
RX stood up strait with his back towards BR and turned his head to the side
RX: I'm always ready...
At that the two began to prepare for the assault on the core.
to be continued...
(I figured I'd get this thing started again, and add a bit of character developing dialog to move things forward)
